Maid Service vs Housekeeping

Housekeeping, in most parts of the world, typically involves a person or persons being in the direct employment or under contract of the family to whom he/she is providing service to. Sometimes on call to help with everyday household chores like laundry, dishes, grocery shopping, cleaning up messes left after meals, picking up toys, trash and assisting with pretty much everyday life of their employer. A 'personal' personal assistant sort to speak. A maid is more often referred to as a cleaning technician as they are expected to maintain the upkeep of the residence.

Maid or cleaning service is provided as a contracted service, the families they provide service to are "customers" and they are invoiced for services provided weekly, bi-weekly or monthly.  This service takes care of those tedious but necessary tasks like disinfecting bathrooms and kitchens, polishing, dusting, cleaning surfaces, moping, vacuuming.  Cleaning or maid service provides services that help keep a home and or small office spaces clean beyond what the naked eye can see.

You see there is a difference between 'Maid' service and a 'Housekeeping' in terms of expectations and job descriptions. As with all cleaning jobs, all services can and should be tailored.
